California
I have always dreamed of going to California, to live those places hitherto admired only in Telefilms.
And so in the spring we decided to make a mad holiday: 2 weeks in California, 1 in Los Angeles and 1 in San Francisco. Departed from Rome with Alitalia flight we arrived in Los Angeles in the early afternoon and already the area to the airport showed exaggerated. Oh yes, it is the right adjective for this town: too much! Of course in a positive way. We stayed in the Downtown area, the area of business, huge skyscrapers, and all they run. The place is not the best but in return, the hotel is fabulous!
The first day we went to Hollywood Studios ... wonderful! You pay $ 99 to enter, or $ 139 if you do not want to do the long lines (which is advisable) and you receive a special pass, which whim! The studios are huge, it takes an entire day to enjoy it well. The following day we went finally to the famous Santa Monica beach. I have thick surfboard and thermal suit (recommended) and I was thrown between the waves. Bhè at least I tried! In return I enjoyed it a lot. In water I met people from all over the world, and it was wonderful. In the following days we were in Hollywood, Beverly Hills and San Diego. In Hollywood you can shop safely in the main street without spending much, while in Beverly Hills, the famous Rodeo Drive, it is better not to see the prices ... mad!
One thing that surprised me is that in this way there is one French store, then all Italians! With that Versace is a master with a shop type Roman temple. In San Diego we were rather too little, it seems to stay in Mexico. To see absolutely the port.
After a week, we left for San Francisco, a city that has remained in my heart.
We stayed in the best area, Fisherman's Wharf, near the port, the deepest area of the city.
It would be nice to live there. There's everything: a huge park (Golden Gate Park), houses in typical Victorian style, the Cable Cars, trams or small (not to be missed), and excellent cuisine!
For those who love to eat well is strongly Chouder the Crowd (crab soup) and the Clam Chouder (shellfish soup) both served in a warm rose. You see the picture.
Unlike Los Angeles, here there is no Metro, but the coaches work very well. Tickets cost $ 1 and 25 cents and you pay the driver through a car.
Finally, after having seen only from afar, we went on the famous Golden Gate bridge, symbol of the city.
We all crossed on foot to same (few kilometers), while the return we took the bus.
A San Francisco is the largest Chinese community of the West and chinatown I just bought a kimono for my girlfriend.
There is also the possibility to buy the famous pearls of the Pacific that are taken dall'ostrica under your eyes if you accept to participate in the ceremony with a Hawaiian ditty!
One last thing: visit the Pier 39, a jetty where "residents" of the friendly sea lions, is really special!
