This year finally after three years of "pause" from intercontinental and well past the 7 first time, I realized my dream: to return to New York!!
What about .... There are no words to describe the emotions that this city can give you is always beautiful, with rain, the sun, with its relentless pace, with its yellow taxis, with its countless skyscrapers, with its boundless culture , its history, more or less recent, more or less shocking ... and I love the cases came alone, with a trip arranged entirely by me, I could appreciate even more magnificent!
Childbirth with tips for travelers you may perhaps like to hear about!
A) Flight and Hotel: probably have been particularly prescient but starting in late August I booked in February! but I'm not sorry because this has allowed me to enjoy preferential rates derisory to say the least! given that the proposed flights airlines such as Alitalia, etc. .. were quite expensive, counting that I should also add the port to reach from Sardinia or Rome or Milan, I watched the British rates giving only the direct London-NY ... I spent $ 300 roundtrip! And I reached London with a low cost extremely economical! I had to move outward from Gatwick to Heathrow (but I arrived in the evening and the flight departed the next day, I slept at the airport _qualche sacrifice has to do at my age! _) While the return air from JFK landed directly to Gatwick, comfortable! with regard to the hotel I stayed at the Amsterdam Court Hotel ... The disturbing part of the initial situation did not prove my reservation and had to stay 3 hours thrown around with luggage waiting to check in, I must say that ... Board is on 50th, one minute walk and you're in Times Square, the prices are really ridiculous and a room with bath for 8 nights cost us about 750 euro in about two ... but it is in full Manhattan! And with every meter of the line a few steps away!
2) Move for airports: the temptation to climb the legendary yellow cabs is irresistible, it is true, however, travel to and from JFK and La Guardia also fattibilissimi are also with the means ... the metro is well connected to both and JFK to Howard Beach subway stop from the blue line takes a super convenient shuttle that takes you to the terminal you want ... because the board is ultra convenient, fast, cheap, compared taxis applying fixed rates ($ 50 JFK La Guardia $ 30 + tolls + tip that is almost mandatory !!!)!
3) visit the city: I would say indispensable New York Pass. You can order from the internet site www.newyorkpass.com (as I did, taking advantage of discounts also organized valentine x) or in some hotel and the Planet Hollywood in Times Square, is in various formats, I did having to be there seven days a week from that ... all I've visited, and I mean everything, museums, empire, various cruises, Madison Square Garden, etc. .. I have not paid and more skipped files! pass also allows you to have a lot of discounts at a lot of places, for example we have robbed Macy's (with 8 kg of extracharge return!) because in addition to discounts from the store had also organized more than his pass! transport is excluded but the Metrocard a week is about $ 27 and allows you unlimited travel, even on the bus! The monuments to visit because I guess I will not dwell are known to all, but put the emphasis particularly on:
- Harbour Cruise: The pass allows you to use a series of cruises to choose in the bay (to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island is in another part but even that is free and with fast track). I did a cruise of two hours running from a pier on the 42nd, near all'Intrepid, and became Manhattan at dusk, going near the Statue of Liberty lit up and arriving at the UN building! How to miss, considering that it's free? Very romantic and evocative!
- Crown of the statue surely know that July 4 has reopened the crown! I was one of the lucky few who managed to get a ticket to climb! on days when they opened the site (www.statuecruise.com) I compiled all time and given our data, the tickets are in fact names, practically asking you the day and time that you get (that make up Only 30 people an hour but all they had ordered tickets on the Internet is impossible to buy them directly there!) I booked for 9 am and arrived at Castle Clinton (Battery Park) for 8 to take the first boat and avoid the crowd and super hot!), I suggest you do the same! Perhaps the visual not as good as that by Empa, but the thought of being the head of one of the most important monuments of the world is exciting! booking for the crown is lost cruise to Liberty and Ellis Island with the free pass because you have to pay all $ 15 (12 cruise and 3 crown), but it's worth it! and do not miss the small museum in the statue!
- Top of the Rock observatory is open to the Rockefeller Center, of course with free pass:) but climbs (and you of course) sull'Empire not miss this platform, with wonderful views of the! I highly recommend the night!
- Metro: do not be afraid to use it: the city is hyper safe at all hours, but many lines are easy to use them because you do not have time to check ogmi the terminus for the direction but if you go UPTOWN or DOWNTOWN. Rather careful because there are trains to the premises and EXPRESS: line is the same but the locals are all stops, the Express are faster and jump some are still marked on the map of the metro then just check and take the train right!
I seem to have given all necessary x straight trip to New York .... you also give a bite to this beautiful apple! is unique! Good journey to all!
