San Francisco, travel diary

 

For the next morning we had planned an triumphant in the city through its most representative bridge: Golden Gate Bridge. Crossing the bridge, we approached the city more and more ... she had them, and could admire it in all its glory ... enough to look a little 'left-most and could even see the island of Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge. On board of our car, we have literally ridden the many hills that characterized the entire city, a sort of roller coaster that wind between elegant residential neighborhoods and charming cafes.
It was high time to have breakfast but despite our best efforts we were not able to find the usual fast-food and so we transferred to a traditional English breakfast with egg, bacon, butter and jam. A full stomach, we proceed directly to the port, the nerve center of the city, since Sunday was particularly crowded by street artists, a family fun and relaxed on many docks and huge sea lions.

A healthy walk along the Golden Gate, a visit to the palace of art, a look at the financial downtown area, a walk to North beach (the elegant Italian neighborhood), the inevitable China Town and some other characteristic spot. The night fell in a flash and as usual we direct the hills of Twin Peaks to spend the night, for the next day we had a picnic along the Pacific coast to reach Santa Cruz, a town 50 miles from San Francisco. In the middle of the night an alarm very sudden ... To be honest the way to Santa Cruz has proved much more interesting than the city itself. In fact, Santa Cruz is just a small town bar from wind and waves that could be just a tourist passing through. Also for this reason we decided to take the way back in the same evening, to return as close as possible to San Francisco.

The next morning we had planned a visit to one of the prisons most famous and celebrated in the world, Alcatraz. And so it was, we bought the ticket to turn the first available ferry and in about 20 minutes we reached the island of imprisonment. We have chosen to purchase an audio tour which provided valuable explanations on the events occurring in the short life of this fortress. We returned to the mainland in the late afternoon and after the last supper in American soil, we direct close to the where the next day we had to return our good machine and take the flight to Mexico City.
