Here is the story of our brief visit to New York in September 2005. The story is still imcompleto, but we will try to enrich it as soon as possible.
If you need further information, please send us an email, good reading!.

5 September 2005

Here we are for a new adventure overseas and then over two oceans. But let's go with order.

We married Saturday September 3, insignificant thing for you to read, but very important to us.
Honeymoon? New York first, and Hawaii, later.
We begin with New York.
Leaving the morning of Monday, September 5, Continental Airlines flight from Milan to Newark, the flight is quiet and 8 hours of flight pass quiet. In Newark we just grab the shuttle (SuperShuttle) and minutes (and with a few dollars, which is uncommon given the cost of taxis in NY) we arrive at our hotel, the Edison, a few steps from Times Square. The hotel is not much, but at least it is clean and its central location makes it an ideal starting point for our vagolazioni New York. Striking views of New York Skyline from that magnify as we approach.
Our first contact with us along the entire 47esima toward the east to Fifth Avenue to meet the Saint Patrick's Cathedral, the famous Waldorf-Astoria (the "Prince tries Wife", remember?). Vague throughout the afternoon and then dinner with bisteccona to 12 ounces and the intention to do a bit of nightlife. Unfortunately the time we care and after dinner we go back to the hotel to recharge the batteries .....

6 September 2005

At six we already have our eyes wide open as two maps. Breakfast at Starbucks (caffettone and muffins, a year that was not so we ate, buurp!). Today the first stop is the largest photographic store in the world: B & H Photovideo, where we buy a wide angle for our old F65. the shop is really a Cockaigne for lovers of photography and photographic material: Hasselblad, Nikon, Canon, more of everything. The owners of the shop are Jews and all employees have the typical look dell'ebreo observant; Barba long hair curl and so on. To see more Manhattan we decided to see the whole city on foot: walk for hours, walk across the Broadway and come up to Washington Square, where the University and the Memorial Arch On Broadway, in Soho, will run in shopping, and we flash backpacks loads, however, the momentum and carry on undeterred for our long trek towards the City Hall Park, then the Fulton Street and Water Street where we stop to eat (now is the one). Then continue on Wall Street with a stop at Rite Stock Market, and ask if we can assist with quotes, but the police (many!) Guard there reported that the visit was adjourned sine die by the events of September 11. From Wall Street to Ground Zero, the step is short. The "hole" is really impressive, especially considering what went before. The tour then continues to Battery Park, which we entirely up to arrive at Castle Clinton, where we take one of the Circle Line Ferry, which allows us to see the entire South Manhattan from the sea, in addition to the Statue of Liberty, Jersey City and Staten Island and Staten Island. After the tour we take the ferry on the way back, we return a hotel dead tired today we walked for nearly eleven hours!

7 September 2005

After the usual breakfast Lauta time we move to the Museum of Modern Arts, the MOMA. After a row of ten minutes (maybe it was also the case in Italy!) Enter the museum, there are countless design objects, prints, photographs, drawings, paintings and sculptures of all kinds. At the top floor there is also the special exhibition of Cezanne and Pizarro.

After visiting the Moma go to visit the Empire State Building, along, of course on foot, across the Broadway to the 34-th street. Despite the time there are many tourists and do little row. The climb in the elevator costs $ 14, a real theft. The elevator goes up so fast (87 floors in 1 minute) that the rebel timpani. The view from the scenic 87-th floor, however, is beautiful: a 360-degree view over the city. Pity they can not stay until the evening to watch the lights of New York from above. The wind blows strong and you will immediately sense the oscillation of the skyscraper.

We ended the visit by Macy's shopping and dinner in Times Square at the Roxy Bar After dinner we do the night tour: retrace the downtown Manhattan: the Empire State Building, Broadway, Soho, Little Italy (now reduced to Tiny Singapore because restricted to just more than one block). Take the bridge and then we go to Brooklyn where we admire the famous skyline, which we are accustomed to see in the cards, not having brought shame on the tripod!

8 September 2005

Let the morning of 8 September to visit the uptown Manhattan in tour: visit to Central Park, Harlem and passing in front of Columbia University and the Guggenheim Museum. In the evening a Broadway Musical: see The Lion King at New Amsterdam Theater: The theater is very nice (although a little too baroque). The musical is beautiful: the actors have wonderful voices and the scenes are incredible.
