Brisbane - Australia travel diary

After about eight hours of flight we landed at Brisbane International. A journey comfortable in all things but we were unable to close eye. We landed in the new continent at around nine o'clock in the morning and the first thing that we are anxious to do, after having retrieved the luggage was to check the outside temperature. Were afraid to find cold ... intendiamoci, we were now accustomed thirty degrees and a constant temperature of 22-24 ° C we would shudder. And so it was out there was a gloomy day and uggiosa with an external temperature of 22 degrees ... it was cold!
We have not waited a moment and we rummage in the bottom of the backpack to retrieve a long sleeve. As usual the next step was to find accommodation ... and here it is beautiful! Prices! That price! We were shocked, appalled, Balbi! Accustomed to the cost of living in South East Asia, we are confronted with prices maledettamente West. Fortunately the airport was great choice of accommodation, but nevertheless we were unable to escape from nineteen Australian dollar falls one for each night in a hostel of course. But you only have half an idea of how many things you can do with that money in places that have just left? Better not think about it and pull straight!

The best thing for the hostel we had chosen was that you were recovering at a free ... at least that! We were exhausted, we saw not the time to lay his head on the pillow and sleep, sleep, sleep. But there were still the usual formalities of check-in to go. Did you know that here in Australia speak English dramatically fast? Perhaps because it is their mother tongue? Seriously, was the first time during our trip happened in an English-speaking country and our English macaroni until now had shown more than enough, here was a gap on all sides. But it is only a matter of habit ... so they say and so I hope.

In the end we managed to go to bed and we did a pull up at night. Wake up arose the problem of eating something and then having to spend more money. Dall'ostello come out and made a short patrol, we opted for an opulent and ultimately economic Kebab, for the "modest" sum of six dollars per head more something to drink.

Returned after little hostel, obviously we had no more sleep and we spent a lot 'of time to talk of more and less and being aware that sharing a room with thousands of small flatmates. In particular were the small armored insettini apparently devoid of wings, nothing seemed to tick by. Seemed innocuous and extremely hostile to being annihilated ... was virtually impossible to crush them and when we could finally exploding in a puddle of blood that came from the cabbage to ask where they were, considering the size.

Went to bed very late, we get up the next morning very late to go and explore the city by day.

Well, not to believe, in about half a day had almost finished visiting the center of Brisbane. In fact is not very big, although around the city center, is developing a hinterland of large size. In half a day we had the city in his pocket, had no more secrets, we were already able to move without the map. Pleased to direct that we have again to buy our second Kebab with which we have eaten our second dinner in Australia. The second day was the turning point ... After a brief exploration of some ravines citizens, we returned home and found that there was also a hostel kitchen and all that, everyone could use it ... incredible! From now on our heads began to sketch the most strange and succulents, have opened new horizons, new alternatives for savings.

But the second day gave us another sorpresona: we have come to Australia to meet the many Treviso emigrated following the two great wars that have ravaged our country in the past, which they did.

We have contacted Mr Giuseppe D'Ambrosi, President of the club Treviso in Brisbane and he has welcomed us with open arms. This combination has made us an appointment for the following day.

Happy and glad we went to bed, as usual a little 'delay, owing to the time zone still absorb

The next morning betimes appeared at our door a distinguished gentleman, who spoke Italian. Still asleep, we struggled to understand that it was Mr Joseph, who has given notice to move because there were a lot of things to see and do.

The program included a breakfast with a cappuccino, a quick glance at the city and then a visit to the Italian club where we promised that we would have met a lot of our fellow countrymen.

At the club there were a lot of Italian, a little 'from all regions, but Treviso was easy to recognize them, hanging their playing cards, to fight, swear and laugh for a stolen item. All people over the years ahead, but with great strength of mind, have proven Kindest and affectionate, with a great sense of hospitality. There were questions on our Italy and we were told when they were young. It was a really special, at times seemed to be back home in one of those old inns where the elderly are found to fly paper ... fabulous

In the evening Mr Giuseppe us back home, saying that from there in two days we would have to see another place, about fifty km from Brisbane, Surfer Paradise, the Gold Coast. We obviously do not ask for better, we had already heard of that place, a paradise for surfers, a sort of mecca for all lovers of the table.

The following day has gone from a walk along the Brisbane River (the river that cuts the city), puntatine to a city park and a juicy cooked dinner with our hands. The next morning, punctual as usual, Mr. Joseph has failed to draw to our hostel and took us to the Gold Coast. During the trip gave us lots of interesting information on the city, its history and also about Australia in general ... knows more of the devil that Mr Joseph!

Surfer paradise, does not make much of the wild charm that we imagined, of that eternal challenge between man and his wave ... is actually a modern city, with crowds of grattaceli constructed along the beach and thousands of surfers (good and otherwise) committed to fighting the force of the sea. However, it is a city alive and healthy, nice to spend a few days. We made a walk along the beach, consumed a great breakfast-lunch in a restaurant along the coast, we peek in the many shops and we also granted a frozen beer in a pub ... better so you can die!

Back at home we greet and thank Mr. Joseph, making him promise that we would be revised in Italy, where we tried in some way to reciprocate the kindness he showed to us.

The next day we get up and we prepared the baggage because there was another plane to expect ... Next stop Melbourne!
