Trip to Australia by Daniele Somenzi, the first time in Melbourne
Australia (first) In 1985, three years after the military parachutists, and the following year to my first 6 months in London, because there was always raining, and every morning I got demoralized by the climate, I decided to spend 6 months in Australia and so I did. That winter I think, in April 86, there was the Chernobyl disaster in Ukraine, and fortunately I have not absorbed any radiation. Landed in Melbourne with Philippine Airlines, with a DC 10, I discovered that summer in November, is too good, just the first thing I noticed, besides the heat, the scent of eucalyptus. Three days after my arrival I started working as a waiter at an Italian restaurant downtown. shortly after I bought a bike used to go to work, and later a motorcycle, a Suzuki DR 600, only $ 2200 Australian second hand, but with only 140 km facts, therefore, almost new. I did not know English at the time, but despite this, I was also working on my days off, in Lygon Street, the Italians, first roast the coffee in a bar and then still another Italian restaurant, when my was closed for vacation, I was looking for people, when they knew I was free, I made a few days the famous pellegrinis, fast food downtown. In the little free time but I also met Maria, daughter of Italians who know Italian and liked the bike rides that I suggested above and also around Melbourne with a small airplane, and I liked his kisses. Sometimes the suzuki did laps of the fabulous forests of eucalyptus, with lots of koalas and kangaroos frame, I explored the surroundings for hundreds of km to the city of Melbourne, even I went up two days in Canberra, as well as Wilson Promontory and Phillip Island, the 12 Apostles, Ballarat. I love Australia even before going there, and when they finally arrived, I realized that it is much, much better than my wildest dreams. hello
