GENERAL INFORMATION AND ADVICE

The best time to come in Polynesia which corresponds to the austral winter of our summer is generally the driest and therefore with lower percentage of moisture in the air and rainfall. The temperature is cooler, ranging from a min. 22 degrees at night to a maximum of 28-29 during the day. The temperature is cooler at this time because there is almost always blowing from the south-east, what we here call the Maramu. Being in the southern hemisphere the wind from the south is cool! It may seem self-evident, but I do not think for everyone. The climate change around the world, so do not be surprised to find even in winter, some days without rain and Maramu. Here we are in winter, daylight hours are less than those of sunshine. Depending on the passing of the months the sun rises and sets at about 6 on average around 17.30. The sea temperature is held on the 27/28 ° and lagoons protected very well in 3 or 4 more. Consequently provide a golf course for evening walks, especially when it is windy. Bring some mosquito repellent and a dopopuntura as in areas with vegetation is easy to find mosquitoes who love Western blood. For the night, bring a camp stove with tablets or liquid that can connect to a socket (after cutting off the central spine of the land would not be able to use French or take the thorns with the universal set).
Polynesia is the country informality, it is customary for that climate, here also the most important and dressed simply with a view. Flip flops, shorts and t-shirts for men and flip-flops, shorts and shirt or top for women. Do not bring in the country of sarongs pareos, I bought here and will also be a beautiful memory. If you want to buy a Polynesian pareo attention to the labels: the only manufacturer is Arii Creation Polynesian (http://www.arii-creation.com/) The people of Polynesia became very religious and the majority Protestant and Catholic, so even if you tolerate it because you are a tourist, if you're not on the beach do not go around in costume is a form of respect for them and will be even more available. Given that most of the Polynesians did not go swimming in this period because it is winter and the water is cold, hard to find a Polynesian woman bathing costume, almost always with shorts and shirt. If you look for the evening entertainment as it is understood in the West this is not the right place. You go to bed early, and at sunrise was already up to take advantage of the day. On Friday evenings and Saturdays you can find festivals in the villages or in hotels: learn. Shops open at 6:30, 7 and cafes or small restaurants where breakfast sometimes even earlier. Forget the myth of Polynesian sexuality, it is dead where it has existed as such, with the arrival of early settlers and later with the missionaries. If, on the contrary, you read of sensuality, grace, simplicity of Polynesian women and oh this is all true. Just see any Polynesian dance, regardless of age, to realize this.
Contrary to what one might infer from the pictures of glossy brochures from tour Polynesia is famous for its long white beaches and great but, rather, for its lagoons and joie de vivre of the Polynesian people. Of course there are beaches but they are generally small with the vegetation right next to coral, and you can already find a few meters from the shore. The beaches found in hotels, in 90% of cases are reported and subtracted from the sand to sandy areas of the lagoon.
When planning your trip do not aim to see the largest number of islands and atolls otherwise you will always be with a suitcase and does not take almost anything in this country. Stay at least 3 or 4 days in the same place: like all things that are beautiful and pleasure in life, this, to be savored, not devoured and then .... at least I remember the taste. The kindness, the kindness, the smile and availability and then draws Be such as against the people and you will see that you'll be rewarded in a more than proportional. Be curious and open, ask and you will see the availability and the care with which you will be happy to explain and learn of their tradition, be it in cooking and fishing, dancing or singing since this is a source of pride for them. About kitchen, the food is very good because it is a blend of Polynesian cuisine, Chinese and French. We must also travel with the "taste" so do not assume that a certain kind of dish you will not like: taste it without preconceptions and discover new flavors that will delight you.
Money spent to rent a scooter, a bicycle, a car, a canoe or small motor boat is money well spent because it will allow you to see the land of luxuriant vegetation and do some interesting meeting and by sea into the lagoon, to see the island from his perspective, and perhaps the best snorkeling in the many gardens in the vicinity of coral reefs. But if your budget allows I'll let a few days by boat to the islands (http://www.viaggiatorionline.com/gulliver 20crociera.pdf%)
It is the best way to see and visit the islands. The Society Islands are particularly suitable to be visited and lived on a sailboat and you will always walk in the cost of a good family pension.
Do the dolphins, and similar lagunarium or the feeding of sharks: they are unhealthy and tourism initiatives personally do not encourage them. Among other things, in a decree of 2006, the government has banned the Polynesian food for the sharks as well as its hunt for commercial purposes (see shark fins for the oriental cuisine), the problem is that since there are no controls are sure to find someone who will offer an excursion with meals to sharks and rays. Dolphins can see them easily in the Pass (interruption of the reef which allows access to the lagoon) and their surroundings. What better lagunarium (pen containing fish typical of the place) that the same lagoon, with free fish and their habitats is appropriate to say, you are watching. If you really want to see sharks, or take a dive with a diving (http://www.the6passengers.com/), or you enjoy a trip to Bora with the little yellow submarine (http://us.submarineborabora.com/ activity.html). But if your route is also Tahaa could go all'Hibiscus (http://www.hibiscustahaa.com/) where good friend Leo manages its namesake foundation for the protection of sea turtles. In the tanks at sea you can watch green turtles that are under the care of injured or simply in rehabilitation before being released into the open sea. You can always ask if a turtle is ready to be released and then adopt it. In recent years, along with many couples who have come on Gulliver we have taken and released several dozen. Allow me to make a recommendation.
If any tour offers you to take a walk on the reef: Do not go! (it's forbidden but again there are no checks) The reef has an equilibrium very unstable due to man, if then there are also walk on the unconscious. Where to put your impression of the shoes it will take decades..
