When sorvolai the atoll of Rangiroa sincerely believed that they arrived in paradise! Holding their breath watching astonished everything around me, without understanding if it were a dream or if it was actually true! I had never seen anything like it in all my life and believe sincerely that I would not have ever seen. Instead it happened, just when I least expected it! My greatest dream, my deepest desire to be transformed into reality and I could not believe ... but at that moment I saw with my own eyes, from the sky. And it was there, just 500 feet below me, Rangiroa, the wonderful RanRan, the largest island atoll in the Tuamotu islands of French Polynesia and the second largest in the world. A ring of white corals off just 300 meters to 80 km in length, appeared in 20 km of lagoon blue totally unspoiled. The only two villages of the island, Avatoru and Tiputa are located in two different "motu" (islets) north of the island and from them I could distinguish perfectly. In a few moments and landed a flurry of emotions I was crammed in my heart. I am here, I did this and now I want to savor every moment that turn on this spectacular island ... The airport is special, lies the village of Avatoru, and while your plane lands you seem to do it in the middle of the sea, because the runway is a long strips of land just a few hundred meters from the sea surrounded. Rangiroa The beaches are not sand but consisting of many shells and lots of pieces of white and pink corals, which are disconnected in time from the reef. The sea, totally unspoiled, is overrun by myriad clouds of colorful fish, the wonderful and extraordinary maintenance, and sonnacchiosi by the enormous Napoleon fish and small and harmless sharks fin black (the barrier). A very important advice: you should absolutely go to see the Lagon Bleu. It 'a really wonderful place, inhabited by giant manta rays, sea turtles and the many other pieces of fish.
To stay on the island a few days, you should go to Rangiroa Lodge at Avatoru (tel. (689) 968213). E 'a widow's family very nice and comfortable, with rooms on the beach but rather economic! If you would like us are the dorms like backpackers for instance, that cost much less! The kitchen is, of course, in common with the use of gas, refrigerator, water, pots, dishes, etc.. The owners are a pair buffissima: Jack and Rofina, he is Chinese and she and Polynesian! Simpaticissimi and are not at all intrusive.
For diving I recommend the diving center "The Six Passengers," founded by an Italian think (that he has understood all of life!). Experience intense emotions in Rangiroa and I hope to be able to explain at least in my part! I advise you strongly to make us a pensierino and remember that if you arranged the holiday alone, is not that expensive as it sounds! The flight is not very cheap, but if you prepare for that time I think anyone can do it! To fly at, the company was the cheapest Corse Air organizing charter flights from Paris to stop in San Francisco, and you could buy tickets at the Nouvelle Frontiere.
