NEW ZEALAND CONNECTIONS 1835

My journey through the beautiful New Zealand starts in Sydney where I was for 6 months to study.
After school I decide to start to see a country that has fascinated me so much. Immediately after the end of the courses at college I was given a holiday and went to Melbourne with my cousins (if you want to read the story about Australia travel is called "8 months Downunder"). I was prevented from having time to organize the material and study trip well as I do usually.
I can not find anyone that can come with me. I am so alone.
These facts led me to choose a journey that I had never done, but that is very popular in Australia and New Zealand. I chose a tour open only to boys from 18 to 35 years. 2 are the major tour operators that organize such trips. Contiki is one the most famous and most expensive and the other that I have chosen is Connections adventures (www.connections1835.com.au) which has proved an excellent choice.
My tour lasts 15 days and is called GRAND KIWI is the most comprehensive.

You travel by bus, each group has a guide / driver of the place and a tour leader.
The route leaves a lot of free time each day you have some optional excursions, the guide shows you, and you choose whether or not some of them.

The feature of these trips is the low cost data from several factors:
- you sleep in a room with other people (2 or 3) and therefore the costs are halved easily
- accommodations are not luxurious, you will sleep in the hotel / motel / lodge or hostels. All the properties in which I stayed were decent, some really beautiful.
- meals (usually includes breakfast and dinner) are cooked by the guide. Hostels / hotel / motel / lodge where he usually sleeps grant the group a room for table use. The guide prepares 3-course dinner and set up the buffet. Dinner was always plentiful and good, of course, much depends on the leadership that happens. SYDNEY / AUCKLAND

It is early autumn and start to do some 'freschino. I take my suitcase and the international airport in Sydney for me boarding the flight with Air New Zealand.

After 4 hours of flight with Air New Zealand flight over Auckland and my eyes are filled with desire to see and hear everything. It's amazing, the first thing that I think it is all wonderfully green and shining!
In Auckland, there are many small volcanoes scattered around the city, are very suggestive viewed from above.
I'll have a shuttle that brings me straight to the coast and I just New Zealand dollar. During the trip I know a girl here who is studying German and I spoke well of his own city. Wants to try to obtain a visa and stay there, + do not want to return to Germany.
The tour begins the following morning and for the first night I took the same hotel where the tour begins. The meeting is in the hotel lobby the morning after.
The hotel (President Hotel, very nice) is in the center, greeting my German friend and I take the keys of the room that divide them with 3 other girls who will tour with me.
I open the door for those concerned find. Here's Ingrid, the first room companion that I know. It is in Sydney (and go, play at home!) And we are now good. Ok, let's go to bed ... I left this morning at dawn and fatigue is felt.
We arrive at the hotel where we meet the 4th girl. Alisa is one of California San Diego, Biondissima, long hair, blue eyes, big grin and a crazy slang. Could be Californian. It is everything you would imagine when you say California. There we speak, has 25 years, is doing the academic year in Brisbane, in a few days will be celebrating his birthday on tour.

AUCKLAND, TOUR STARTING POINT AND BAY OF ISLANDS

We start now and Sue, our tour leader and guide / driver Carl (Maori) we like to welcome you and explains how it works. Then he asks us to go to the microphone and stand. Here everyone pulls out the best in themselves and especially the veterans of the group make the show worthy of note. A Dutch boy says he is a director of porno films and is traveling to find new inspirations and new subjects for his films. Also is looking for "hot girls" for his "hot movies".

We leave Auckland and the landscape is always greener emerald.
The journey is long enough, in fact are more than 200 km. But what you see out the window is unique: many sheep who interrupt the bright green hills, blue sky with white clouds a lot, it seems to be in a painting. Never stop to watch these new wonders.
We arrive at Paihia, a small village in the heart of Bay of Islands. The landscape as we approach the sea change dramatically. How to turn the corner and everything changes to the place of the hill suddenly there's a blue sea with many islands on the horizon.
Just come to the village says that Carl is his hometown and he knows all. Have noticed them immediately, every 2 seconds we stop because we all rise and greet the coach to kiss and tell all of us that tonight we should go for a drink at the Pipi Patch, one of the few pubs that we are here.
Let's go to the visitor center where we find many brochures and photos about places you're going to see. We also have 1 hour of free internet. The guys who work here are young and very casual, in fact just come to welcome us with screams incredible. I still have almost 2 months of travel ahead of me, because once again I will have Sydney over a month of travel in Australia and Malaysia with my boyfriend who would come dll'Italia.

Let's go to our first backpacker, we have a small 4 very hippy, but nice. We are facing the sea, we take advantage now to get the costume and go to the beach.
I start getting to know the other fellows: are we really from all over the world: 3 girls and 2 boys Americans in New York city, 2 Japanese, 1 Dutch boy, 2 Danes, 1 Mexican boy (Gustavo, but for friends Gus) by which lego suffered because he loves Italy and we feel "like" being "Latin", 3 British children, other Australians, some Swiss, Austrian, German 1 girl, 1 Canadian, 1 Brazilian.
We make the first dinner all together, there's really much to eat and I have to say that everything is very palatable. I realize now that these are monsters, they drink a casino! Indeed, in turn buy the parcels of beer (12 cans) and the drained safely in minutes ...
After dinner we go to the Pipi Patch bar which is located in the center of the village. The atmosphere is goliardic, give us the vouchers for free beer. Thanks, but sin that I like beer.
There is a street artist who makes games of prestige and applaud all the money and leave.

BAY OF ISLANDS, CROCIERA IN BARCA A VELA

The trip that I booked today is a tour boat sailing between the islands. Some of us suffer the blow of last night, not me and Alisa that we went to bed by brave girls after 2 glasses of wine.
We see dolphins in the distance, we stop for swimming and offer us tea and biscuits. Descend on a small island, is a little 'freddino, but try to resist.

Going back to Paihia, and we rest in the hotel until dinner. Even tonight "big night out." Let's go downtown and we choose a pub indoors because it's very cold outside. BAY OF ISLANDS, AUCKLAND

Journey back to Auckland where the group will end the tour and other new entries will be added.

Ingrid and I go to visit the markets pretty much near the center and then we go to dinner in a pizzeria with Alisa. AUCKLAND, ROTORUA

We greeted our fellow travelers with a heavy heart, we very much connected with them, it's strange to think that not ever be seeing any more of them.

During the journey we stop at the caves of Waitomo Caves. Some visit, me and Louise decide to rest and not spend money. Everybody talks about some amazing insects in the caves and almost convince me to go and visit them, then I realize that these famous glow worms are but I see fireflies hundreds around my house in Siena ... Louise convinced not to go to my house asking to see 'these glow worms without needing to go into the cave and pay.
It is a beautiful surrounding that, we do a tour, then we see a very nice hostel. We enter in to see how, go and get mail from internet to pc fee. We see two sofas in an empty room ... get the alarm and able to sleep for 1 hour and a half!
Awakening to go to a farm that we had to see your "Angora Rabbit Shearing" ie nice gentleman showed tosavano like rabbits to make the angora. ROTORUA

This morning we have included a hike in the price, this is the visit to a Maori village, the Whakarewarewa Maori Village. The friendly Maori welcomes us that teaches us to say well the name of the village. We visit this place that seems the world of fairy tales. Today we have a pretty long journey ahead of us. We start early, begin the long journey to Wellington. We reach our friends in the city center and we see that Wellington is a city quite boring and quiet. NELSON

CHRISTCHURCH, FOX GLACIER

We are moving to the Fox glacier, passing through the town of Hokitika, famous for working jade. There are many shops selling earrings, rough stones and many other things. I can not buy anything, my budget is very small.

FOX GLACIER

This morning I wake up early because the excursion to the glacier. QUEENSTOWN

MILFORD SOUND

After the cruise, you depart for Queenstown, we shot the Lord of the Rings, so the journey is long.

QUEENSTOWN, LAKE OHAU

LAKE OHAU, CHRISTCHURCH

FLIGHT TO SYDNEY
