Recife, Brazil

 

After the now classic twelve hours, strictly at night, we were in Recife. Disassembled by bus, we made a hearty breakfast because it was almost not a day that we ate a belly full and we were directed to the information office that he has proposed several alternatives, but all located in the district of Boa Viagem, one dedicated to tourists. After a quick assessment of the possibilities available to us, holding the tickets already for the next destination, we have used the free transport service available in the company with whom we traveled and in about half an hour we were in town. To reach the posada we were advised that we also need a taxi, dropped out of the fact that a nice gentleman was there ready to satisfy our desires. The taxi driver told us that he knew the best places to those that we had recommended a price equivalent but better located. Fidandoci him we have seen three different hotels and then stop the drive that had a room available. It was a small family run hotel near the sea: perfect! Deposited the luggage in the room we were precipitated into the ocean and we were greeted by an immense and wide beach surrounded by tall skyscrapers and sparsely populated by people. Tired, we only had the strength to stop a truck that was selling the coconut green to drink with your water. We then returned to the hotel to fall into a deep sleep. In the afternoon we were back on the beach to catch some sun, which has succeeded only partially because the four have the entire shoreline was covered out of the huge skyscrapers that preceded; little male, collected towels, we went to take a tour of the beach and then sit on the side of a booth, sipping yet another coconut water. For dinner we had thought about going to the Shopping Center around which stretched the heart of the commercial district of Boa Viagem. After an excellent dinner we went to take a walk towards Praçinha, the main square of Boa Viagem, in the hope of finding a bit of movement. Our hopes have been disappointed time since the square was completely empty and prey to despair, we proceed directly to the bus stop to return home.

The next day after having taken advantage of the breakfast in the price of we decided to go to the beach to enjoy the morning sun, unlike the El Salvador beach was available to us and after a few minutes we already had towels on the sand and cream spread on the body. In a refreshing bath and a sweet coconut water, the sun already starting to hide behind the buildings, but ultimately we could not complain of the day. Returned to base, a relaxing shower and a nap have allowed us to recover the strength in view of the evening for dinner we had once again chosen the Shopping Center.

The next day we had planned to visit the historic center of Recife, located about ten kilometers north of our neighborhood. Piglio the first available bus began our trip, we are down near the port where it was moored a giant sailing ship and then submit to the ancient palaces now proven by years and by poor maintenance. We rose again to reach the north to an old military fort on which we do not even come because of money. Returning back to the pier we were directed to the municipal theater and then to the most characteristic of Recife Antigo, "and what its market is developing at the foot of the great cathedral along the narrow streets. We walked to the market until the evening looking for some shirts and some music and then turn back to Boa Viagem and our hotel. For the evening we were granted a luxury lunch of fish that has satisfied our palates but emptied our portfolio. Not yet satisfied, we then proceed directly to a kind of disco that played live music, a place with very nice people too well in "grid" in which, however, we passed the time pleasantly.

Another day, another goal: Olinda, an ancient city just outside Recife, which we reached in an hour by bus. Down to us had been assigned to any part of fearless guide that brought us the tour of the country, with great difficulty we managed to sow and to continue our journey solo. Olinda is a small city really "linda" and that is beautiful, perched on a hill from where you can dominate Recife is that the whole bay, and is packed full of historic buildings in good state of preservation with many colonial houses and a lively colors impressive number of cathedrals, churches and small churches. Climbed up on top of the hill, we arrived in front of the majestic building that houses one of the oldest hospitals in the whole Brazil, but the thing that most impressed us was the panorama that stretched behind the building: a huge expanse favelas that seemed to extend as far as the eye up to the city of Recife. We have come to the street through a small market that offered food of any type including the feature "tapioca", until you get to the Cathedral da Sé, located on the edge of a hill and a courtyard that offers a spectacular view on ' ocean and the city of Olinda. From there we are back where we had dismounted the bus to pick up another in the opposite direction. In the evening we went to dinner at a kiosk along the beach and then to bed early.

The next day was the last available in the city of Recife, and we decided to spend it with toast on the beach under the scorching sun. In the evening we prepared the baggage because the next morning we left for new shores: the city of Natal.
