Salvador de Bahia: only joy!

We started in 8 people of which I knew only one, destination: salvador. Arrival at night in an airport with not even a policeman and a very strange smell, perhaps the hottest and sultry climate I ever felt, taken 2 taxis and head towards most tourist areas of the cities (port bar), remain 2 nights in a hotel after trying (failing) to rent an apartment, paying 15 dollars each day (apartment almost liveable), but we adjusted.

A day of sea in deckchair and umbrella (1 umbrella and 2 deckchairs - really not more) with the opportunity to buy various cooking fishes directly on the beach or to taste the acaraje cooked by a typical BAHIANA.

MONDAY: The most popular local and casquinha de siri with his music pagodas. To get there you have to take bus (90 cents - ie half dollar, or taxi for 20 real - ie 10 dollars. I know that buses run only until midnight).

TUESDAY: Pelourinho old town. Afro reg and the music of olodum that rules in this district (concert only olodum, Tuesday, at a price of 25 real beginning at 8pm) with all pastel color houses and live concerts in various alleys, all free. after 15 days of life unbridled night had to leave, but on the same day I decide to stay there, not missing a week of mythical and passionating CARNIVAL. And I could not go home without seeing all my friends amazed by my choice, I knew a Brazilian who took me to a little visit into neighbouring beaches as PRAIA DO FORTE (the beach of the turtles) island itaparica (reachable by boat) and morro of S. Paulo (reachable by fast motorboats).

Arrived at the carnival which scaffolding have already been prepared a month before, I was astonished to see a lot of people dancing, drinking, kissing and making love on the beach without even caring of others. Try to figure out 7 days of celebration without ever stopping, day and night.

Finished the carnival workmen began to clean the city with all citizens to restore salvador as it was before. It came time to go home, but I promised to myself to return here. So I came back to live here and work here (in apartment rental agency, and as tourist guide and translator).
