The pearl of the Venezuelan Caribe, Isla Margarita
Isla Margarita, Venezuela Perla del Caribe, a small paradise in the Caribbean Sea and the presumed ultimate goal of the "Way of the music." The island represents the fourth stage from my doorstep in Venezuela, and certainly the most tourists;
though I've avoided the usual (not entirely) the madding crowds to delve into the true essence of the Caribbean one of the most beautiful in the world. It's something that I recommend to everyone: Take a day's time to rent a car, or better, a bike and wander through the beautiful villages that are situated at the interior of the island. I ended up with local friends in Ciudad de Marcano Juangriego in City Hall where I met the real musicians margariteños, fishermen or craftsmen who play the galeron and the Venezuelan merengue. The little village and the surrounding areas (north of the island) is famous for handicraft ceramics and straw sombreros. Wander the narrow streets of small towns is a continuous surprise: the houses small and colorful addition to bringing in an atmosphere of lightheartedness and "distance" to hide them unique objects of craftsmanship.
Do not miss the many booths arranged here and there, la comida typical of the island: cachapa y cocada. The first is a sweet and savory corn cake stuffed with cheese, the second a drink sweet taste of coconut, but in many other ingredients supercalorici. Due to the excessively hot temperatures of the island is recommended a nice nap after a meal.
Another tip: if you have the chance of participating in a birthday margariteño, do not be miss this opportunity. A real madness of traditional songs (happy birthday almost did not know) improvised and fun, symbol of the eternal character Caribbean nation this summer in the blood.
If attending a birthday means that you have known someone in the place, then let lead in the typical beach that "only he knows" and enjoy the bracing exclusivity and landscape. A local tourist beautiful? The beach bar, located near an inlet of the Caribbean and `near a beautiful castle in the south of the island. And vabbeh ... beaches, hotels, discos, bars, restaurants, boats, ... pelicans!
