In 1987, waiting for a job and hopes to put South America, I approached this trip solo to one of the most remote places of Venezuela, a land that offers a variety of different landscapes, from altitudes of the Andes to the beautiful beaches to get to the desert sand to the Amazon jungle.

For a number of circumstances I found myself in Caracas with the kids who were facing this trip in jeeps and without thinking, I was already with the backpackers. 2 pairs the adventure in these areas can create moments emozionantissimi and at the same time dangerous situations, but fortunately, and thanks to the other kids, she got us very well.

The trip is very long and tiring but the places we visit are delightful, despite the poverty of the people who offer a smile to us that we are not just the stereotype of the tourist full of money.

We move to Puerto la Cruz to get to sull'Orinoco of Ciudad Bolivar, Puerto Ordaz and then to where the river flows directly Carona sull'Orinoco. The different colors of the two rivers that form a unique spectacle. The Carona, much darker, shape, first to enter sull'Orinoco, the Embalse de Guri, a large artificial lagoon that feeds the second hydroelectric power plant in the world.

Tucupita thanking come to have a jeep, as I call it the road seems too much. This town is something chaotic. Much dirt, but the rest knew that we would not have found comfort. We adapt in a "retirement" to say the least dilapidated, but the owners of a very difficult kind found in large hotels.

A Tucupita meet José, who then would be a relative of our traveling companion. Owns a small travel agency, and for reasons of work must go inward. Of course we aggregate to him, free of course (usually the tour of about 2 or 3 days will also pay $ 300). Parked the jeep, we make the necessary provisions that load on the motor boat, we give our local identity to the police (it seems that the request to direct anyone in the Delta), and finally depart.

From Caño Manama we pulled in the many canals of the Delta (the name derives from Venezuela multitude of channels such as to make it seem, in the eyes of the Spanish conquistadors, a sort of Venice), some very close, being careful not to strand the boat in the waters low. The nature here explodes towards the sense of the word; mangroves, liane and vegetation of any type soil and water combining with the sound of animals in the background. Meet some communities living on piles to eat yucca and excellent fried plantains (bananas). Housed in one of these communities (the name does not remind me never ...) on the hammocks with mosquito monsters trying relentlessly to pass away the curtain. Here is an incredible pace and chaos of Rome seems to me to be just a distant nightmare. I remember that I was tempted to stay there for life, but then the events of life changed.

The days passed sull'Orinoco remain forever dear in my memory. The sympathy of the people you know, landscapes, fishing piran, un'anaconda by thrill, are all things that are useless to describe. My advice is to visit this place, absolutely at the expense of comfort.

At our return to a nice surprise Tucupita read serpentello large, we waited quietly in the engine of the jeep. Its purpose was un'orribile unfortunately not on my account though.

The return to Caracas saw us involved in a very thorough search unpleasant, especially to us boys, from an isolated position as intolerant Guardia Nacional. The only sore point in all directions of travel.

We spent a week of absolute rest on the beaches of Cuyagua, west of Caracas, famous surfers' paradise. Free camping on a beautiful beach and wonderful sea by high waves. Unico neo, care must be taken to the coconuts that fall, especially at night, threatened to do really badly ...
