A road trip through the roads of Croatia, arriving by sea from Ancona: the best choice given the 20 km of queue to cross the border.. Arrival in Zadar at around 23.00, luckily we had the hotel booked from Italy. A night of rest and departure for the inland, the Plitvice lakes, passing through the Croatian countryside; impressive the number of cemeteries along the route. Return to the coast at Jesenice, a small village near Split, visit of Trogir and finally a bit of sea. Boarding for the island of Hvar and overnight stay in Stari Grad, less chaotic and more pleasant than the town of Hvar. On the island we found the most beautiful beaches. Next destination Orebic, taking the ferry at Sucuraj. Advice: arrive early at the boarding given the long queue to board. A day visit in the town of Korcula. Last destination, Dubrovnik.
A fascinating city rich in history; only flaw, proportionally it costs more to park than to eat. Overnight stay in Mlini, visit to the beaches of Plat and Cavtat (to be avoided) and boat trip to the Elafiti islands during which you appreciate the city walls from the sea. Conclusion: life still very cheap both for eating and sleeping (in the sobe). I recommend the meat roasts in the inland and the feasts of grilled fish on the coast. For the sea definitely better the islands. Avoid the attractions for Italians because very expensive (see Hvar). Nightlife in the cities was a surprise, since I didn't expect anything particular. A trip definitely to be recommended.
