Where to go, month by month

Built on the real dates of travellers' stories: not an opinion on when to leave, but when people actually left. Each month shows the destinations for which that is the best month: every country appears once only, at its peak. Those told all year round are listed apart. Next to each destination: average temperature and rainfall in the capital that month (NASA climatology, 2001-2020); in green with a star the recommended months.

The most-told month is August with 1.932 departures; the one with fewest stories is February (421).
