For twenty years, from '75 to '95, we always went to the mountains, to the Dolomites; we explored them far and wide, then we opted for the sea. Now we've gone back to our old love, but this time in the Val di Non. It's a truly beautiful thing: as soon as you venture into the valley you're immediately surrounded by apple orchards. A wide, sunny valley with not-too-high mountains, all covered first by apple orchards and then by woods. A perfect, always-breezy climate. We walked the canyon of the Novella river park, something really special: walkways attached to the rock in a very narrow canyon with the stream flowing far below; it's well worth doing. We also saw Lake Tovel, beautifully set among the peaks of the Brenta. The sanctuary of San Romedio perched on a peak, with the bear that's part of the legend of San Romedio too.
We cooled off for a week, then back to the heat and the swelter of the Po Valley. Bye, and happy travels to whoever is setting off.
