We board the Air Tahiti plane and fly towards Bora Bora. The view from above is breathtaking!!! All these atolls of a thousand colours…practically the roughly 2-hour flight is spent taking photos.
Arriving at the very small airport of Bora Bora, the staff of the Intercontinental Thalasso & Spa were there to greet us, a string of very fragrant tiare around our necks, and we are already sailing towards the Resort.
On arrival the only thing you can do is stand there open-mouthed. Everything looks exactly like on television…when you're on the sofa watching these breathtaking landscapes, the overwater houses, the sea of a thousand colours, and you always repeat "how wonderful, what a paradise…how I'd love to go there…." Well, now we're here and not on the…sofa! The staff welcome us with a cocktail over the water, and immediately after completing the check-in formalities they take us to our private Over Water Junior Suite. The apartment is nothing short of fantastic! A large lounge with tv, the little table with glass so you can see the water under our house, an immense bedroom with a king-size bed and a huge picture window looking onto the lagoon, as is the bathtub in a very large bathroom.
Outside a little terrace with sun loungers and a small platform for two so you can sunbathe with a built-in ladder to get into the water…well! It's hard to want more at certain moments.
