We are in one of the tropical paradises most dreamed of by European kids the world over... or rather, most dreamed of ever since you are a child in Europe... whether because they are located at the end of the maps you study at school... or because they evoke memories of adventurous sailors, of mutinies, of unknown islands, of natives, of treasures, of pirates...
We fall asleep lulled by the cheerful Fijian music strummed by one of the thousand groups of friends who gather here and, as if before a campfire, spend hours and hours singing and playing their little guitars! It is such a great pleasure to listen to them! Good night from Wailoaloa Beach!

On a characterful local bus we head for Nadi Town. Already on the bus, with no windows, the atmosphere is very carefree! Music at full volume, smiling and relaxed people... how lovely!
We pass through various residential areas populated by colourful little houses with the usual hammock in the little yard...
The centre of Nadi is very Indian; Bollywood music blares everywhere at full volume from big speakers, in the supermarkets, in the shops selling pirated DVDs with the latest films from Bombay or Madras...
Along the Main Street there is a strong smell of spices that takes us back in time and makes us feel a great nostalgia...
We have lunch in one of the many Hindi eateries: samosa, thali and all the specialities that Stefy so adores...
We spend much of the afternoon at the Sri Shiva Subramaniya Swami Temple, right at the end of the Main Road. We chat for a long time with one of the brahmins, who is so intrigued by these two Italians who talk of Mother India with such passion and feeling... We find ourselves telling of India to many Indians born in Fiji but who have never set foot in their land of origin... the very one their grandparents left two generations earlier...
In the evening, on the beach of our lodge, we enjoy one of the most romantic sunsets ever experienced! Four Fijians play rugby on the water's edge, two dogs chase each other on the sand, a man lazily rides his horse while an orange disc, immense, plunges into this clear, calm sea... there: on the horizon! 'Bula!'
Enjoying an excellent 'ika vaka lolo', a local dish of fish, tapioca and coconut cream, a wonderful and relaxing day of travel comes to an end!
